Monthly recap: February travels

February was a busy month for us – both workwise and travelwise. Here’s a recap of our month as seen through Instagram.

Destinations in February: Madrid (new to us!), London, Sussex, Stockholm

Our new destination of the month was Madrid, ticking it off as one of our three new destinations for 2016. Neither of us had visited Madrid before, but fell head over heels with this vibrant and gorgeous city.

When we spotted an apartment for rent with a whopping five (!) balconies, we were ready to pack up our flat and sign up to the next available Spanish class. Check out our Quick Guide to Madrid and you’ll be booking a trip to Madrid soon too.

Holborn facades London

We also went to England together on a family visit. Ash grew up in Sussex and we’ve both spent a lot of time in London, so we mostly revisited old favourites. In London we strolled through Holborn, munched on international food (SO MANY BURRITOS – Swedes rarely serve good ones), and wandered along the Thames river and nearly getting knocked over by all the city workers on their jog home.

In Sussex we took a road trip (car rental FTW!) along the coastline and stopped off in whatever cute villages and towns took our fancy. Of course we squeezed in several English breakfasts and tea breaks too.

Instagram roundup (clockwise from top left): 1. Our first outdoor fika of 2016 was in Madrid of course // 2. Blue skies and Spanish washing // 3. Sunset across the Stockholm skyline with City Hall //  4. English church in Seaford, East Sussex // 5. Refilling my water bottle on the boulevards of Madrid // 6. St Jakob’s Church in central Stockholm // 7. Grabbing a cable car across the old royal hunting grounds in Madrid // 8. Even the street signs are pretty in Madrid // 9. Newly renovated King’s Cross station in London.

Guests also came to Malmö and helped us explore our own city, and gave us an excuse to dine at Spoonery, chill out in Kiez, and visit Turning Torso. And, best of all, catch up with dear friends we hadn’t seen for a while.

I visited Stockholm on a business trip too, and enjoyed chilly morning and evenings strolls through our gorgeous capital. I’ll be back in March and again in May (FOR EUROVISION! CAN YOU TELL I AM EXCITED!). We’ll be back with a Quick Guide to Stockholm this spring.

For now, we’re getting ready for Krakow, London and Stockholm in March. Come along on Instagram!
